After you install this update, you may have to restart your computer. if you uninstall this and restart you should see an inscrease. also if you have other 3rd party applications running in the background then you will have performance hits. 9 times out of 10 most users do not know they have applications running in the background (real player, etc..etc) and that does cause performance hits. its not XP or MS...however many love to just point the blame at them because its easy. kinda like not using search.
